9/10/10 - Steampunk Ball 5-7 PM Saturday!
1/25/10 - We have a facebook event page for the Steampunk track!

Victorian science fiction is the short answer. A little longer one comes from Wikipedia: "The term denotes works set in an era or world where steam power is still widely used – usually the 19th century, and often Victorian era England – but with prominent elements of either science fiction or fantasy, such as fictional technological inventions like those found in the works of H. G. Wells and Jules Verne, or real technological developments like the computer occurring at an earlier date. Other examples of steampunk contain alternate history-style presentations of 'the path not taken' of such technology as dirigibles, analogue computers, or digital mechanical computers (such as Charles Babbage's Analytical engine); these frequently are presented in an idealized light, or with a presumption of functionality."
What this means for Darkovercon is that Chrononauts, Sky Pirates, and Mad Scientists from everywhere will be descending upon the convention to attend the first ever Steampunk Track which will have programming on all three days. We will have everything from historical presentations for background knowledge to hands on how-tos to social get-togethers where we can swap ideas. Come and join us on our Grand Adventure!

This, coupled with a childhood tendency to read the dictionary for fun, led her inevitably to penury, intransigence, the mispronunciation of common English words, and the writing of speculative fiction.
