Costume (Optional) Ball

Darkovercon 33 means that Darkovercon, like all good hobbits, will be coming of age. In honor of this, our ball Friday night will be a 50's sock hop (so we can play 33 and third records!). There will be special prizes for the person(s) who dress up in the way that best fits our theme, as well as a prize for the person who has the best Steampunked sock hop outfit. Personally, I have a mental image of hobbits doing the Bunny Hop.

Dances at the sock hop that may be taught by dance mistress Susan de Guardiola:

• the stroll
• the Madison (complicated line dance)
• hand jive (sitting down!)
• some conga-line type stuff (bunny hop, cha cha choo choo, etc.)

However, though this is a sock hop and ripe for some serious active dancing, swing dancing will not be taught. Though if you already know how, feel free to show your stuff!

THERE HAS BEEN A CHANGE: The Regency Ball is no more! In its stead we have:

The Steampunk Ball

There will be a Steampunk Ball Saturday afternoon (5-7 PM). Steampunk dress is strongly encouraged, but not required. Susan de Guardiola will also be coordinating this ball.
